Christ Church Junior School - Sowerby Bridge
At the end of Key Stage One, aged 7, our children move on to Christ Church CE (VA) Junior School. We are two separate schools but we work extremely closely together throughout the school year to ensure a very smooth transition for our children.
Miss Embleton is the Executive Headteacher over both schools.
The schools work very closely together, sharing expertise, staff and resources. The curriculum is closely aligned at both schools, so that children can seamlessly continue their education from Key Stage 1 into Key Stage 2. Christ Church is lucky to benefit from wonderful grounds and outside space, so we regularly make use of this to benefit teaching and learning at Tuel Lane. For example, children will access Christ Church for sporting activities, minibeast hunts, animal habitat exploration, and Forest School type activities. The two schools also come together at key points of the year, such as Harvest, Christmas and Easter.
Our teachers and teaching assistants often attend training together.
We are proud of the programme of 'Transition' that year two pupils participate in, preparing them for their move into the next phase of education.
If you would like to find out more about Christ Church, have a look at the super website, or please contact Miss Embleton to arrange a visit.
