PE
Developing Sportspeople for the Future
PE enables and inspires all pupils to have a will to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It provides opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect whilst enabling pupils to lead healthy, active lives.
P.E is an essential part of the week. We provide a high-quality curriculum that aims to inspire all pupils to succeed and excel . Each child will participate in at least 2 hours of P.E per week. Throughout the curriculum, we will provide all children with opportunities to compete in sport and take part in other activities that build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.
KS1
The curriculum will allow the children to develop their fundamental movement skills, become increasingly competent and confident in order to extend their levels of agility, balance and coordination, individually and with others. They should be able to engage in competitive (both against self and against others) physical activities in a range of challenging situations.
Pupils will be taught how to:
- master basic movements including running, jumping, throwing and catching, as well as developing balance, agility and co-ordination, and begin to apply these in a range of activities.
- participate in team games, developing simple tactics for attacking and defending.
- perform dances using simple movement patterns
